Did you know that the Quran speaks highly about Jesus?
In Arabic, Jesus is known as Eesa. More than 90 verses across fifteen chapters of the Quran discuss Jesus, and what it says about Him is quite eye opening.
1. Did You Know Jesus Is The Only Person Said To Be Honored In The Next World By The Quran?
“Behold! the angels said: “O Mary! God giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to God; He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. And he shall be (of the company) of the righteous.” She said: “O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?” He said: “Even so: God createth what He willeth: When He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, ‘Be,’ and it is! And God will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel, And (appoint him) an apostle to the Children of Israel, (with this message): ‘I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by God’s leave: And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by God’s leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe; (I have come to you), to attest the Law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; I have come to you with a Sign from your Lord. So fear God, and obey me. It is God Who is my Lord and your Lord; then worship Him. This is a Way that is straight.’” 3:45-51
2. The Quran Claims That Allah Actually Preferred Some Prophets Above Others, And He Specifically Mentions Jesus And David:
Those apostles We endowed with gifts, some above others: To one of them God spoke; others He raised to degrees (of honor); to Jesus the son of Mary We gave clear (Signs), and strengthened him with the holy spirit. If God had so willed, succeeding generations would not have fought among each other, after clear (Signs) had come to them, but they (chose) to wrangle, some believing and others rejecting. If God had so willed, they would not have fought each other; but God Fulfilleth His plan. S. 2:253 Y. Ali
And it is your Lord that knoweth best all beings that are in the heavens and on earth: We did bestow on some prophets more (and other) gifts than on others: and We gave to David (the gift of) the Psalms. S. 17:55 Y. Ali
3. Did You Know That The Quran Applies DIVINE Attributes To Jesus ?
The Quran describes Jesus as “the word of God“, “spirit of God“ in Arabic.
Wouldn’t calling a prophet the “Word of God” and “Spirit of God” be considered blasphemy?
So what is it saying here? Is it saying that Jesus spoke the very words of God according to the Quran?
“O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary…….Sura 4:171
4. Jesus is called, “His Word” in The Quran, But Did You Also Know That In The Bible, Jesus Is Also Described As THE WORD?
“The Messiah, Isa son of Mary, Allah’s Messenger, and His Word…” (Sura The Women 171; Sura al Imran 40).
The WORD ( Jesus ) Became Flesh is described in John 1:1-4
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” John 1:1-4
Jesus is called the “Word” (Logos) in Greek. Logos was used for God. John declares that in the beginning Logos existed, He was with God and Logos was God. This shows the complex nature of God. In the bible, Jesus is none other than God Himself.
5. Did You Know In The Quran, It States That Jesus Was Unique Because He Was The ONLY One Born Of A Virgin?
He said: “Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son. 20 She said: “How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?” 21 He said: “So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, ‘that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us’: It is a matter (so) decreed.” Sura 19:19-21,
6. The Quran Says Jesus Was Strengthened From The Spirit
The Masih, Isa Son of Mary, Allah’s Messenger, and His Word that He committed to Mary, and a Spirit from Him.” (Sura The Women 169).
We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you a messenger with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?–Some ye called impostors, and others ye slay! 2:87
In the bible the Holy Spirit is also identified as God. The very first chapter of Genesis talks about the Spirit of God.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” (Genesis 1:1-2)
Jesus Christ was anointed and fitted for service by the Holy Spirit. We read in Acts x.38, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.” In a prophetic vision of the coming Messiah in the Old Testament we read in Isa. lxi.1, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.” In Luke’s record of the earthly life of our Lord in Luke iv.14, we read “And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and there went out a fame of Him through all the region round about.” In a similar way Jesus said of Himself when speaking in the synagogue in Nazareth, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the poor; He hath sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord” (Luke iv.18, 19, R. V.). Read more from biblehub.com/
7. Did You Know The Quran Calls Jesus The Messiah?
The Quran refers to Jesus as the Messiah (al-Maseeh) at least nine times.
The Quran never refers to any other prophet as being “masih”
According to Answering Islam, identifying someone as the “messiah” isn’t a lose term to simply write off:
If today in Saudi Arabia, a ordinary citizen claimed to be the King of Saudi Arabia, and began calling himself the Sheikh of Saudi Arabia, either the authorities would say he was mentally deranged and he would be a laughing stock or they might even escort him out of the country–or worse. When Jesus Christ was born, it was revealed by God that he would be a king. (Matthew 2) (That is part of what “masih” signifies.) In fact, it was written that he would be the Messianic King. Even though “King” is a title, King Herod did not take this lightly because he understood that “king” had a very clear meaning. As a result, he very cleverly tried to kill Jesus. This type of scenario is constantly occurring around the world today. To say that the term “al-Masih” is simply a title, without meaning, fails to take into account the logical and grammatical sense. 8. Did You Know The Quran Describes Jesus As A ‘Sign,’ ?
“And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign.” (Quran 23:50)
“…We may make him a sign to men…” (Quran 19:21)
“and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples.” (Quran 21:91)
In addition, the Quran declares Jesus’ second coming to be a ‘sign,’ an announcement that the Judgment Day is coming close, “And indeed, Jesus will be a sign for the Hour (of Judgment), so have no doubt about it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.” (Quran 43:61)
“Say: ‘Praise be to God. He will show you His Signs and you will recognize them. Your Lord is not heedless of anything you do.’” (Quran 27:93)
“This is a communication to be transmitted to mankind so that they can be warned by it and so that they will know that He is One God and so that people of intelligence will pay heed.” (Quran 14:52)
9. The Quran Testifies That Jesus Was Able Open The Eyes Of The Blind
Jesus performed miracles and signs which no other man could do. He was not just any ordinary prophet.
“And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead” (Quran 3:49; Mark 6:13; James 5:14)
10. Did You Know That There Is Only ONE Woman Mentioned In The Bible, And She Happens To Be Yeshua Jesus’s Mother?
There is one woman mentioned by name in the Quran. Her name is Miriam – Miriam is also known as “Mary”, the mother of Jesus. Did you know that she is the ONLY woman mentioned by name in the Quran? Her story is told in 19th chapter of the Quran. There are other pure women discussed in the Quran, however their names are not mentioned. We can determine their names from tradition. Here are those women:
- Hawwa Or “Eve” The wife of Adam, (Quran 4:1)
- Sara – Sara is the wife of Abraham who gave birth to Isaac in her later years. (Quran 11:71-72)
- Hajirah or “Hajar” The wife of Abraham who gave birth to Ishmael or Ishmael. (Quran 2:158)
- Asiya – Asiya was described as the wife of Pharoah, who cared for Moses after his rescue as an infant. She protected Moses and stood up for him in front of her husband. (Quran 66:11) In the Bible, the daughter of Pharaoh who rescued Moses is not named. A daughter of Pharaoh named Bithiah is mentioned in I Chronicles 4:18.
And Mary the daughter of ‘Imran, who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into (her body) of Our spirit; and she testified to the truth of the words of her Lord and of His Revelations, and was one of the devout (servants). S. 66:12
“By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.” Hebrews 11:24-26
11. Did You Know That The Quran States That Mary Is The Most Exalted Of All Women?
And when the angels said, ‘Mary, God has chosen thee, and purified thee; He has chosen thee above all women. S. 3:42
13. Did You Know That The Quran Actually Admits That Jesus’s Believers Would Prevail Over The Unbelievers Until The Day of Resurrection?
Behold! Allah said: “O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee SUPERIOR to those who reject faith, TO THE DAY OF RESURRECTION: Then shall ye all return unto Me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.” S. 3:55
O ye who believe! Be ye helpers of Allah: as said Jesus the son of Mary to the Disciples, “Who will be my helpers to (the work of) Allah?” Said the Disciples, “We are Allah’s helpers!” then a portion of the Children of Israel believed, and a portion disbelieved: But We gave power to those who believed against their enemies, AND THEY BECAME THE ONES THAT PREVAILED. S. 61:14
14.The Quran Also Talks Highly About Abraham
Abraham was father of other prophets, and was also the ancestor of the Prophet Muhammad. Muslims honor and respect the Prophet Abraham (known in the Arabic language as Ibrahim). The Quran describes him as “a man of truth, a prophet” (Quran 19:41).
For Allah did take Abraham for a friend” (Quran 4:125).
“Salam (peace) be upon Abraham!” God says in the Quran (37:109).
“Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope. If you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” John 5:45-47
“Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house. For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses–as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.) Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.” Hebrews 3:1-6
“‘Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.’ The Jews said to him, Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, “If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.” Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?’ Jesus answered, ‘If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God. But you have not known him. I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and I keep his word. Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.’ So the Jews said to him, ‘You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?’ Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.’ So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.” John 8:51-59
15. Did You Know That According To The Quran, Jesus Was Given Revelation By Allah?
He said: “I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet. (19:30, Yusif Ali)
16. Did The Quran Say That Jesus Had The Authority With God?
And I was a witness over them, while I remained among them; but when thou didst take me to thy self, Thou wast Thyself the watcher over them. (Sura 117)
Scripture References To Jesus In The Quran

2:136 We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma’il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them . . .
2:253 . . . To Jesus the son of Mary We gave clear (Signs), and strengthened him with the holy spirit.
3:45 O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah.
3:46 “He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. And he shall be (of the company) of the righteous.”

Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe.”
3:50 (I have come to you), to attest the Law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; I have come to you with a Sign from your Lord. So fear Allah, and obey me.
3:52 When Jesus found Unbelief on their part He said: “Who will be My helpers to (the work of) Allah?”
3:55 Behold! Allah said: “O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.”
3:59 The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam . . .
3:84 . . . and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord.
4:157 That they said (in boast), “We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah”;-but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not.
4:163 We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to Abraham, Isma’il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms.
4:171 O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not “Trinity”: desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth.
4:172 Christ disdaineth nor to serve and worship Allah . . .
5:17 In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary.
5:46 And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah.
5:72 They do blaspheme who say: “Allah is Christ the son of Mary.” But said Christ: “O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.” Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode.
5:75 Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food.
5:78 Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected Faith, by the tongue of David and of Jesus the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses.
5:110 O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favour to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee with the holy spirit, so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel and behold! thou makest out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou breathest into it and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou healest those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! thou bringest forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee when thou didst show them the clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said: ‘This is nothing but evident magic.’
5:112 Behold! the disciples, said: “O Jesus the son of Mary! can thy Lord send down to us a table set (with viands) from heaven?” Said Jesus: “Fear Allah, if ye have faith.”
5:114 Said Jesus the son of Mary: “O Allah our Lord! Send us from heaven a table set (with viands), that there may be for us-for the first and the last of us-a solemn festival and a sign from thee; and provide for our sustenance, for thou art the best Sustainer (of our needs).”
5:116 Allah will say: “O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah’?” He will say: “Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart . . .”
6:85 And Zakariya and John, and Jesus and Elias: all in the ranks of the righteous.
9:30 The Jews call ‘Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah.
9:31 They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of Allah, and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary; yet they were commanded to worship but One Allah: there is no god but He. Praise and glory to Him: (Far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him).
19:19 He said: “Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.”
19:20 She said: “How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?”
19:21 He said: “So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, ‘that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us’: It is a matter (so) decreed.”
19:22 So she conceived him, and she retired with him to a remote place.
19:27 At length she brought the (babe) to her people, carrying him (in her arms). They said: “O Mary! truly an amazing thing hast thou brought!”
19:30 He said: “I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet.”
19:31 “And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be, and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live.”
19:32 “(He) hath made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable.”
19:33 “So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)!”
19:34 Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute.
19:88 They say: “(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten a son!”
19:91 That they should invoke a son for (Allah) Most Gracious.
19:92 For it is not consonant with the majesty of (Allah) Most Gracious that He should beget a son.
21:91 And (remember) her who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples.
23:50 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs.
33:7 And remember We took from the prophets their covenant: As (We did) from thee: from Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary: We took from them a solemn covenant.
42:13 The same religion has He established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah-the which We have sent by inspiration to thee-and that which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: Namely, that ye should remain steadfast in religion, and make no divisions therein: to those who worship other things than Allah, hard is the (way) to which thou callest them. Allah chooses to Himself those whom He pleases, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).
43:57 When (Jesus) the son of Mary is held up as an example, behold, thy people raise a clamour thereat (in ridicule)!
43:61 And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way.
43:63 When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: “Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear Allah and obey me.”
57:27 We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy . . .
61:6 And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said: “O Children of Israel! I am the messenger of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me, and giving Glad Tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.” But when he came to them with Clear Signs, they said, “this is evident sorcery!”
61:14 O ye who believe! Be ye helpers of Allah: As said Jesus the son of Mary to the Disciples, “Who will be my helpers to (the work of) Allah?” Said the disciples, “We are Allah’s helpers!” then a portion of the Children of Israel believed, and a portion disbelieved: But We gave power to those who believed, against their enemies, and they became the ones that prevailed.
Did you know the crescent moon is found in the book of Judges? 1000-1500 BC? Today it is used as the symbol for modern Islam, yet it was being used in the exact place where Islam is dominant today long before Islam was a religion. What are your thoughts on this? (I cannot take any credit for this find today. My husband found it today in his MEV bible)
Where did the symbol of the crescent moon come from? Many speculate it comes right from Babylon, see more at Babylon Religion
